Speaker Bio


Patricia Nakache is a General Partner at Trinity Ventures, a Silicon Valley venture capital firm founded in 1986 and focused on building leading-edge information technology companies. Patricia focuses on funding companies launching innovative business and consumer services. She is particularly interested in Internet-based marketing and information services, alternative advertising solutions, and software delivered as a service. She represents Trinity Ventures as a director on the boards of Care.com, i4cp, Jobster, and PayScale, and has previously been active on the boards of Affinity Labs (acquired by Monster), LoopNet (LOOP) and MyNewPlace. Patricia also helped lead Trinity’s investments in Vimo, PlayFirst, and Sabrix.

Prior to joining Trinity in 1999, Ms. Nakache spent six years with McKinsey & Company advising enterprises in technology, retailing and financial services on strategic and operational issues. She has contributed to FORTUNE magazine and other publications on management best practices in technology companies.

Patricia is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Harvard University where she majored in Physics and Chemistry. She holds an M.B.A. from Stanford Graduate School of Business where she was an Arjay Miller Scholar.

Matthew Picciano is an experienced private equity investor with Alpine Investors, LP. At Alpine Matthew is involved in the sourcing and closing of new investment opportunities.

Based in San Francisco, Alpine Investors is a $247 million private equity firm that invests across a variety of industries. Alpine’s objective is to invest in or acquire small to mid-sized U.S. based companies that generate $2 to $10 million of EBITDA. Alpine’s capital may be used to provide full or partial liquidity to entrepreneurs, family members, estates, passive investors or corporate owners. Alpine has the ability to work with business owners in two ways: (i) investing behind the current owner to help grow the business over the long term or (ii) placing an executive into the business who can take over the day-to-day operations for an owner that is looking to retire or transition out of the company.

Prior to joining Alpine Investors, Matthew was in capital management and corporate real estate with The Kroger Co. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Real Estate from the University of Cincinnati where he graduated cum laude.

Hildy Shandell is a venture partner at Opus Capital where she focuses on sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities. Hildy brings to the firm unique expertise in leading corporate growth, operations, finance and legal. Opus Capital is an early stage venture firm, which manages more than $1 billion in committed capital.

Before joining Opus Capital, Hildy was senior Vice President of Corporate Development at Genesis Microchip. In that role, she accelerated the realignment of corporate strategy and was instrumental in the acquisition of the company by STMicroelectronics, the world’s fifth largest semiconductor company. The transaction was achieved with the largest premium for the sale of a semiconductor company in recent years. Prior to joining Genesis, Hildy was the Vice President of Corporate Development at Broadcom Corporation, a $3.5 billion global leader in wired and wireless broadband communications semiconductors, where she directed on-going corporate development activities, including strategic acquisitions, investments and alliances.

Hildy also served as Chief Financial Officer and then Chief Operating Officer at 3Dlabs Inc., a public company providing graphics semiconductors for computer-aided design, digital content and visual simulation. Previous roles include Of Counsel with the global law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, Managing Director of The Renaissance Fund, a $150 million private equity fund focused on high technology and infrastructure investments related to Israel, and Partner at the international law firm of Fulbright & Jaworski.

Hildy holds a BA degree in Government and Sociology from Lehigh University and a JD degree from the Temple University School of Law.
