How to Use the Sale and Purchase of Assets to Grow Your Business

Chapter members Pamela Hedblad, Kristie Prinz, and Sharon Wong explored the acquisitions process with attendees at the July event through a series of questions posed by panel moderator Monika Miles.

The speaker panel outlined how business owners can use the sale and purchase of assets to grow their businesses, and addressed the following questions:
  • What is an asset acquisition?
  • What happens when a business owner decides to purchase or sell assets?
  • What are some of the issues a business owner should consider when contemplating the purchase or sale of assets?
  • How are businesses incorporating acquisitions into their business strategies?

The panel concluded that purchasing assets can enable a business to enter a new market, obtain a new product line, or acquire a new competency and that selling assets can enable a business to raise capital or refocus on a core competency or more profitable product or service.
