January 2004: Beyond Superwoman: Top 25 CEOs

Presented by: Peggy Downes Baskin and Karin Strasser Kauffman

For the past three decades, women have been told that if we just plan carefully and organize our time well enough, we can have it all: a high-powered professional career, a loving family, and a satisfying personal relationship. For their new book Beyond Superwoman, Peggy and Karin interviewed 25 top women executives in Silicon Valley and discovered that the lives of successful women executives contradict this advice. Without exception, the women CEOs they studied didn't attempt to balance their personal and professional lives, but instead sequenced them, focusing on doing one thing at a time and doing it well. Peggy and Karin will share what they learned, including:

how trying to do it all can be dangerous to physical and mental well-being and ultimately counterproductive
compelling glimpses into the lifestyles of women who have risen to the top of previously male-dominated professions and the strategies they used to .sequence. their lives
practical advice for women business owners trying to juggle priorities
