 How to print this pageServe on a NAWBO-SV Committee
Don’t have enough time to be a Board Member, or would like to get exposure to committee work and the membership? Committees are the ideal place to get started! Time requirements vary greatly and are generally very flexible. Working with various committees can be great fun, as well as productive; and the personal and business relationships developed are usually priceless. If you want to get involved with NAWBO Silicon Valley’s many committee activities, please consider joining one (or more) of our dynamic committees which report monthly to the Board of Directors. Committee member positions generally require from 4-12 hours per month of your time, including committee meetings.
AmbassadorsWe are always looking for women who are friendly and outgoing to welcome our members and guests at monthly meetings throughout the year! Don’t worry if you cannot personally attend every single meeting-we like to have a pool of members to draw on. This is a fabulous opportunity to meet the maximum number of members, guests and Corporate Partners at every meeting—giving you great exposure for your business! CommunicationsWe have had several wonderful women editing and producing the Chapter newsletter and website for the last few years. While we have moved from printing a Newsletter to our beautiful new website created by Take Flight Graphics, we would really like to spread the workload with a Website Editor who could collect and edit the news. Also, we are in need of a chapter journalist to write follow-up stories for our Events Highlights pages. Other volunteer opportunities are also available, and the workload is flexible. Benefits to working on this committee include getting to know other members, skill development, and gaining visibility for your business. Contact us for more info.
Corporate PartnersOur committee’s goal is to increase the personal and financial participation of corporations and community organizations with NAWBO-SV. Members on this committee contact corporations to provide them with increased visibility to NAWBO members and our related business partners and sponsors. This also provides wonderful exposure to the individual committee member and her business. In addition, committee members have the opportunity to get better acquainted with other NAWBO members. MarketingOur Marketing committee broadens NAWBO-SV’s visibility with women business owners and throughout the community, and provides marketing support to all NAWBO committees. MembershipJoin the membership committee to contact prospects about joining NAWBO and/or current members about their needs. Working on the membership committee is the BEST way to get to know other members! Contact the Membership Director at membership@nawbo-sv.org to join in the fun.
Programs/EducationThe program/education committee plans and coordinates our monthly meeting and educational events. Our goal is to deliver high quality programs that provide excellent value to our members and the business community. Committee members plan and implement meetings and educational events, research topics, select & book potential speakers. If you are interested in helping out on this important and fun committee, please contact Programs Director pdirector@nawbo-sv.org.
Public PolicyMembers of this committee will help each member identify their government representatives. Then we help set up appointments for our members, as well as send letters to legislators. The time involved is 3-5 hours per month-mostly phone and email work. In addition to developing political influence, committee members have a great opportunity to get to know members, what they do, and where their businesses are located.
